The Lay President of Conference is a lay person and full member of the Methodist Church Nigeria who has served the Church in other capacities at the Diocesan and Archdiocesan levels prior to his election into office.
The Lay President presides over the Lay Session of Conference, Council of Lay Presidents meeting and Conference Finance and Strategic Planning Committee. He is a member of the Conference Connexional Council and can preside over the Representative Session of Conference when the Prelate is unavoidably absent.

Sir (Ide) Ifeanyichukwu Okechukwu, KJW (2021 –Date).
The current Conference Lay President succeeded Sir (Barr.) Francis Foluso Aremu, KJW after the completion of his two terms in office from 2015 to 2021 as stipulated by the Constitution of the Church.
